Brian Patrick Byrne is senior platform editor at The Wall Street Journal, where he assigns and edits vertical videos for the Journal's flagship Instagram, TikTok and other social-media accounts.

He spearheads artificial intelligence initiatives such as developing a suite of AI-powered efficiency tools, including a social-media recommendation engine that scrapes WSJ RSS feeds in real-time and suggests stories to promote based on historical performance data.

Before joining the Journal in 2022, Brian was an editor on Business Insider's award-winning distribution team. He collaborated with top leadership to overhaul push-alert strategy and led social-media strategy on weekends.

Prior to Business Insider, Brian held a supervisory role at NowThis and grew the brand's flagship TikTok account to 1.4 million followers in seven months.

Brian earned his M.A. in Journalism from Dublin City University, where he was awarded the Veronica Guerin Memorial Scholarship, and his B.Sc. in Computer Science from University College Cork. He is a naturalized U.S. citizen.
